Delhi Pollution: AQI Plunges To ‘Very Poor’, Fog Blocks Visibility Delaying Flights And Trains

The overall AQI was recorded as 377 at 6 am amid low visibility due to fog according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

With the air quality reaching hazardous levels, residents in Delhi are likely to experience no respite from the ongoing conditions. The situation is believed to be further escalating due to poor weather conditions. Meanwhile, the national capital continues to remain in the ‘very poor’ category for the third consecutive day on Sunday.

The overall AQI was recorded as 377 at 6 am amid low visibility due to fog, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Delhi experienced a sharp dip in the temperature during the early morning hours today. Strong cold wave coupled with fog caused disruptions in daily life. Many residents were seen seeking shelter in the night shelter homes to brave the cold day.

Flights & Train Delayed Due To Fog

Amid blocked visibility, several flights were delayed at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport impacting smooth flow of operations. Besides this, many trains were also running late at the New Delhi railway station.

AQI In Different Parts Of Delhi

The following AQIs were reported in different parts of Delhi at 6 am today: Okhla Phase 2 (399), Alipur (354), Rohini (411), ITO (326), Ashok Vihar (407), Mundka (424), Jahangirpuri (407), Narela (356), DTU (334), R.K. Puram (403), Pusa (384), Anand Vihar (407), and Punjabi Bagh (357).
