Delhi Water and PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh on Wednesday took a boat ride from Boat Club to Chhath Ghat on the Yamuna River. He inspected the river and discussed the issues pertaining to it with officials. He appealed to Delhi residents not to throw garbage into the river. Singh mentioned that the development of the Yamuna riverfront has begun and cleaning Yamuna is one of the priorities of the Delhi government. It was also part of the BJP’s manifesto for the Delhi Assembly elections. He briefed the media about his visit and the actions taken for cleaning Yamuna.
Here’s What Delhi Minister Said On Yamuna Cleaning:
Parvesh said that capacity of the existing STPs (Sewage Treatment Plants) will be increased.
New STPs will be installed so that the waste coming into Yamuna can be treated before it mixes with the water.
New STPs will be installed in industrial areas as well.
He added that strict action will be taken if any complaints are raised.
The minister has assured the work to be completed within two years. He informed that development of the Yamuna Riverfront has already started.

Cleaning Yamuna A Priority
During a briefing about upcoming ‘Viksit Delhi’ budget, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that government aims to prioritise all the important issues that were part of BJP’s manifesto. This includes financial assistance for women, expansion of health services, promoting public transport, reducing pollution, cleaning the Yamuna, employment, welfare of senior citizens, and other important issues.
