The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said in a statement on Wednesday that all lines will begin service at 4 a.m. on Independence Day (August 15) for guests, invitees, and the general public attending the ceremonies organized at the Red Fort.
As per the advisory issued by DMRC, trains will run at intervals of 30 minutes until 6 a.m. on Independence Day, after which the normal schedule will be effective the rest of the day.
“To facilitate the special guests, invitees, and general public to attend the Independence Day ceremony on Friday, 15th August 2025, the Delhi Metro will commence its services at 04:00 a.m. on all its Lines from all terminal stations. The train services will be available at a frequency of 30 minutes on all the Lines till 06:00 a.m. and thereafter, the regular timetable will be followed for the rest of the day,” Delhi Metro said in a statement.

“In addition, people in possession of a bona fide Invitation Card issued by the Ministry of Defence for attending the Independence Day ceremony will be provided special QR tickets for travel to and from the venue,” the advisory stated.
The rail cooperation states that the cost of this travel will be reimbursed to the DMRC by the Defence ministry. The following metro stations: Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, Delhi Gate are the closest to the venue.
Earlier in the day, a full-dress rehearsal for the Independence Day celebrations was being rehearsed at the Red Fort with heavy security.
The rehearsal involved security personnel, cultural contingents and ceremonial arrangements that will be repeated on August 15.
Delhi police shared a traffic advisory for the rehearsal from 4 am to 10 am on the grounds that most vehicles were restricted in and around Red Fort at the following key junctions including Lothian Rd, Chandni Chowk Road, SP Mukherjee Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg and Nishad Raj Marg.
The traffic associated with ISBT Kashmere Gate, Salimgarh Bypass, Vikas Marg and surrounding areas has also been shifted. This was done for the sake of mobility and safety.
