Delhi: In a major crackdown against human trafficking on Sunday, Delhi Police busted a racket and rescued at least 23 women from the Paharganj area. Among the rescued women, three were minors and ten were foreign nationals. A total of seven individuals were arrested in the operation. According to DCP (Central) M. Harsha Vardhan, the operation was carried out on 20th March based on intelligence inputs by Paharganj Police, Himmatgarh Police, and Shardhanad Marg Police Post.
Victims Housed In Main Bazar, Paharganj
The extensive surveillance revealed an organised human trafficking network, operating in Paharganj. Following this, police raided multiple places simultaneously. They stated that the accused had kept the women in Paharganj’s Main Bazar area. They were brought from states such as West Bengal, and Nepal and were transported to Delhi.
How Police Saved The Women?
A police team comprising both male and female cops raided multiple locations after getting divided into smaller units. They monitored the movement of the victims, who were directed to different hotels on scooters, reports added. TOI quoted a senior official as saying, “Police deployed decoy customers at suspected hotels and conducted raids at multiple locations.”
The accused have been identified as Nurshed Alam (21), Mohd Rahul Alam (22), Abdul Mannan (30), Taushif Rexa, Shamim Alam (29), Md Jarul (26), and Monish (26).
