New Delhi: In a review meeting headed by Delhi Animal Husbandry Minister Gopal Rai on Wednesday, the decision to form Delhi Animal Welfare Board has been taken for the betterment of animals in Delhi.
A total of 27 members divided into 19 categories have been included in the Animal Welfare Board. This board will work for the prevention, care etc. of cruelty to animals in Delhi. Along with this, financial and technical assistance will also be provided by the board to the organizations involved in animal welfare work in each district of Delhi.
Along with this, instructions have also been issued to speed up the construction work of Delhi’s first veterinary college. The Veterinary College will be constructed on 56 acres in Satbari, Delhi. Gopal Rai said that the Kejriwal government has always been determined to work for the welfare of the Delhiites as well as the animals living in Delhi. Keeping this in mind, Animal Welfare Board has been constituted for the betterment of animals in Delhi.
The minister further said that the Animal Welfare Board will work for the prevention, maintenance, etc. of cruelty to animals in Delhi. Along with this, it will also provide financial and technical assistance including guidelines to the organizations/bodies involved in animal welfare work in 11 districts of Delhi. For this, this board will continue to work as a governing body. This Animal Welfare Board of 27 members is divided into 19 sections including MLAs of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, people actively working in animal welfare works in the state, high officials of the concerned department, representatives of SPCA, Gaushalas and Animal Welfare Board of India.
