New Delhi: Heavy rains in the national capital has affected daily routines of residents, causing an attack to children's education as well. Government schools in Delhi was shut down after the weather condition deteriorated, leaving the city submerged. In a video posted on Twitter, minor stundents of Nigam Primary School Pocket IV Mayur Vihar were seen standing outside the school gate protesting and asking the government that their school should be opened now that has been closed for at least 20 days now. Listing out their demands of reopening schools, students also said they want to study and need new books since their books were washed away with the flood water.

Schools were Closed After Heavy Rains Hit Delhi 

Delhi schools were closed after the city was left submerged and waterlogged. Residents were seen walking through chest-high water on streets. Many even had to leave their houses to reach at safer places. Meanwhile, people living in the low-lying areas faced even worse consequences of the incessant rains that lashed out in Delhi. Looking at the danger to people's lives, the Delhi government had set up temporary camps to provide shelter.

Delhi Recorded Highest Rainfall In 1982 

Earlier, Delhi recorded the highest rainfall in a single day in July since 1982 that is (153 mm). That occured due to the monsoonal winds, cyclonic circulation and western disturbance over northwest India.
