In a disturbing sequence of events, a man in Delhi who allegedly murdered his ex-wife in Patparganj on Wednesday was found dead by suicide in Noida’s Sector 90 the following day. The woman had earlier filed a police complaint against him, accusing him of sexually harassing a four-year-old child. Police recovered the man’s laptop, which revealed internet searches related to suicide. He was a professional engineer and a resident of Malviya Nagar.
What Happened?
According to Delhi Police, a call reporting a suspected murder in Patparganj was received around 6 PM on Wednesday. Upon reaching the location, officers discovered a woman, approximately 27 years old, lying between two beds in a severely burned condition on the ground floor of a residence. She had sustained four stab wounds—one to the abdomen and three to the chest. An empty kerosene bottle was found nearby. She was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead.
CCTV Footage
As the investigation proceeded, CCTV footage from nearby houses hinted at a man’s entry and exit to her house. “A man was seen entering and exiting the woman’s residence around the estimated time of the crime. The woman’s current husband identifies the man as her former husband,” the officer said.
Police said the woman’s ex-husband had earlier been accused of molesting a minor girl in Pandav Nagar, and a complaint had been filed. Her current husband also said that she was scared and was threatened often by her ex-husband.
Accused Found Dead When Police Reached
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Abhishek Dhania, the ex-husband blamed the woman for the molestation case. He believed the case had damaged his reputation and made it hard for him to get a job. He had also threatened to harm her if she didn’t take the case back.
Based on the evidence and witness statements, police registered a case of murder. A special team, led by Additional DCP Vinit Kumar, was formed to investigate. During the investigation, the police tracked the suspect’s phone location to Noida. When the team reached there, they found his body near a 23-storey building.
