Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: In a major update, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials confirmed two workers were injured after a pillar of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway collapsed in Saharanpur. The tragic accident took place on Sunday near Mora village which comes within Badgaon Police Station limits in Deoband Circle. According to reports, upon receiving information, police reached the under-construction site. Thereafter, the wounded were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.
Normalcy Restored
Rampur Maniharan SDM Shweta Pandey informed that normalcy has been restored in the area. Further details are awaited in the matter. Meanwhile, the commuters going from Delhi to Dehradun must note that the 32-km-long stretch from Akshardham Temple to Baghpat of the highly-anticipated Delhi-Dehradun Expressway has been successfully completed. Since the project is nearing completion, the 212-km-long expressway, which is being built in four phases, will soon be ready for inauguration. However, the date of its opening has not been officially announced.

Expressway Now Expected To Open By…
Earlier, reports suggest that the Delhi-Dehradun expressway will open to the public this month. However, after the Saharanpur pillar collapse incident, there are speculations that the expressway will now take a few more months to be inaugurated. Once completely functional, the route will reduce travel time to 2.5 to 3 hours, almost half the previous 6-hour journey. Additionally, it will ensure seamless connectivity and smoothen traffic flow, benefitting the commuters.
Key Details Of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway
Due to some technical reasons, the inauguration of the Delhi-Dehradun expressway was earlier postponed. Key highlights of the expressway include 110 vehicle underpasses, five Railway Over-bridges, a 76 km service road, and 16 exit and entry points. The expressway connects all the places on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
