Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: Good News For Ghaziabad Commuters! Khajuri Chowk To Be The Landmark Of The Stretch

The Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) has been overseeing the construction work. The concerned agency has been directed to complete the pending signage and beautification work on the expressway.

Ghaziabad: Wait for the much-awaited Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is finally going to be over as Khajuri Chowk is set to become its defining feature. The expressway will reportedly be the tallest at this square and will be planned in three phases.

The project includes a connecting road at the end with the metro line running above it. This follows the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway on top built at a total cost of Rs 2324 crore. The project is estimated to be completed by December this year.

In the 1st phase, the expressway connects Akshardham temple in Delhi to Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh, which is approximately 32 km long. Meanwhile, the last phase connects Ganeshpur in Uttar Pradesh to Asharodi in Dehradun. More than half of the work in the 213 km long Delhi-Dehradun Expressway has been completed. To ensure a smooth flow of traffic, a speed limit of 100 km per hour has been fixed for light vehicles.

Commuters can access the expressway once the survey report receives a green signal from the authorities.

Key highlights of the Delhi-Dehradun expressway include 110 vehicle underpasses, five Railway Over-bridges, a 76 km service road, and 16 exit and entry points.

The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is being built in 11 packages. Commuters can travel via Meerut or take the Delhi-Yamunatri Highway via Saharanpur, Shamli, and Baghpat to reach Delhi. The expressway connects all the places on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.

1st Phase: Akshardham – Delhi – UP Border

2nd Phase: EPE Crossing – Saharanpur Bypass

3rd Phase: Saharanpur Bypass – Ganeshpur

4th Phase: Ganeshpur – Dehradun
