Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: The 3.5-kilometre stretch from Daat Kali to Asharodi of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is now fully open for commuters. All the six lanes are fully operational, boosting connectivity between two cities. While, commuters await the inauguration of all the sections of the expressway, the opening of this 3.5-km stretch has delighted them.
The Delhi–Saharanpur–Dehradun Expressway is an under-construction, 210 kilometres, 12/6 lane access-controlled expressway. This expressway will connect Delhi and Dehradun by passing through several key cities. This will improve connectivity, make travel smooth and safer and increase tourism in the region.
Salient features Of Delhi–Dehradun Expressway:
Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will reduce the distance between the two cities from 235 kilometres to 210 kilometres.
The 210-km long stretch will reduce the travel time from Delhi to Dehradun from 6 hours to around 2.5 hours.
The stretch is designed for driving with a minimum 100 Km/hr speed.
Furthermore, wayside amenities, every 25-30 km, have been provisioned for enhancing the road user experience.
Closed toll mechanism would be adopted to enable pay toll only to the extent of highway used.
The first 18-Km, stretching from Akshardham Temple to Loni will be toll-free, this will provide seamless experience to the commuters.
The expressway will have 7 major interchanges for connectivity to Haridwar, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Yamunagar, Baghpat, Meerut and Baraut.
An interesting feature of this expressway is that it will have Asia’s largest wildlife elevated corridor of upto 12 Km for unrestricted wildlife movement.
This expressway will boost the overall economy of the region. It will facilitates larger connectedness between economically important production and consumption centers.
It will boost tourism in the region as reaching Haridwar in Uttarakhand will become much easier through this expressway.
The construction of the Delhi-Dehradun expressway is divided into four main phases:
Phase 1: The stretch starts at Akshardham Temple in Delhi and extends to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) upto 32 kilometers.
Phase 2: The route continues from the EPE to the Saharanpur Bypass, and covers 118 kilometers.
Phase 3: The stretch connects Saharanpur Bypass to Ganeshpur, and expands upto 40 kilometers.
Phase 4: The final phase connects Ganeshpur to Dehradun, and spans over 20 kilometers.
