New Delhi: Delhi Finance Minister Kailash Gahlot presented the budget, worth Rs 78,800 crore, for the financial year 2023-24. The budget had huge announcements for infrastructure modifications, health and energy sector. This Budget, interestingly, was presented amid row over Manish Sisodia’s arrest amid probe over the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy ‘scam’ case.
Major Highlights Of Delhi Budget 2023:
> Delhi plans to become ‘saaf, sundar, aadhunik’ city i.e a clean and modern city.
> Over Rs 16,500 allotted for education sector
> Rs 6,342 crore allotted for water management
> Rs 9,333 crore allotted for transport sector
> Over Rs 9,700 crore allocated for health sector, 100 mahila mohalla clinics to be set up
>Mohalla clinics on the premises of eight Metro stations to provide health facilities to the public.

> 80% electric buses by 2025, to reduce carbon emission by 4.6 lakh tonnes
> A provision of Rs 3,348 crore made for energy sector
> Local bodies to be given financial assistance of Rs 8,241 crore in financial year 2023-24
> Free bus ride scheme for women to continue in 2023-24
> Kailash Gahlot said water coming out of Sewage Treatment Plants should be used for non-drinking purpose.
