Delhi Blast Probe: Hotels raided in Paharganj, Daryaganj, 4 suspects detained

A deadly blast near Delhi’s iconic Red Fort on Monday, November 10, claimed 10 lives and left several injured. The tragic incident has caused widespread shock in the area, with security heightened in several parts of the country.

Delhi Blast: In connection with the Delhi blast case, police conducted extensive searches throughout the night (Monday) at hotels in Paharganj, Daryaganj, and nearby areas. Hotel registers were thoroughly checked as part of the investigation. During these searches, four suspects were detained for questioning, ANI reported quoting Delhi police sources. However, an official confirmation is still awaited.

Case registered under UAPA

Delhi Police has registered a case in connection with the blast under various Sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Updating on the case on Tuesday morning, DCP North Raja Banthia stated that teams from the NSG, Delhi Police and FSL are present at the spot and are investigating the entire crime scene.

“An FIR has been registered at the Kotwali police station. Case has been registered under sections of the UAPA, Explosives Act and BNS. Teams from the NSG, Delhi Police and FSL are present at the spot and are investigating the entire crime scene. The investigation is ongoing. There are some body parts in the car (in which the blast took place). The FSL team is collecting them; so let’s see how it connects,” Banthia said.

Authorities have sounded a high alert in the national capital region and other states, including Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai, Punjab, and Haryana. Security agencies are present at the scene to investigate the blast cite as the city grapples with the aftermath of the explosion.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police has obtained the CCTV footage and examination is underway. According to the police, the footage shows that the i20 car involved in the explosion entered the Sunehri Masjid parking lot at 3:19 pm and remained there for about three hours before leaving at 6:48 pm. Just four minutes later, at 6:52 pm, the car exploded near the Subhash Marg traffic signal, engulfing several other vehicles parked nearby. Eight people were killed and 20 others were injured.
