Delhi AQI: Toxic smog chokes capital, air quality remains ‘Very Poor’ – check forecast for next two days

Delhi AQI, November 26, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast no rain in the capital for the next seven days. Shallow fog is expected to continue engulfing the national capital region during the early morning hours. The AQI is unlikely to improve anytime soon.

Delhi AQI, November 26, 2025: The air quality in Delhi continues to remain in the ‘very poor category amid worsening winter weather conditions. The Air Quality Index (AQI) plummeted to 335 at 8 am on Wednesday (November 26, 2025).

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast no rain in the capital for the next seven days. Shallow fog is expected to continue engulfing the national capital region during the early morning hours. Meanwhile, the AQI is unlikely to improve anytime soon.

On Wednesday morning, a layer of toxic smog covered Delhi’s south extension, causing AQI to drop to 348, according to the CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board). Areas such as Akshardham, AIIMS, and ITO witnessed reduced visibility, sparking health concerns among residents.

Despite implementing various anti-pollution measures, including the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP)-IV, which is currently in effect, the air quality in Delhi has not improved in recent days.

AQI Readings In Other Areas Of Delhi Today

Wazirpur registered a concerning AQI of 308 under the ‘very poor’ category this morning, while the air quality plummeted to 336 in Sonia Vihar. ‘Poor’ AQI of 230 was recorded in Chandni Chowk area.

AQI plunged to 284 in Jahangirpuri, while nsit Dwarka recorded an air quality index of 180 at 8 am on November 26. The other areas include Rohini (261), Bawana (219), Vivek Vihar (279), Ashok Vihar (266), Patparganj (210), Nehru Nagar (250), Siri Fort (229), Okhla Phase 2 (222), Lodhi Road 2 (196), Najafgarh (202), and Sri Aurobindo Marg (185).

GRAP IV In Effect

in view of the toxic AQI levels in Delhi, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) last Saturday revised the GRAP measures for the entire NCR, directing to imposition of the measures for the ‘Severe’ AQI category under GRAP Stage IV to be taken under GRAP Stage III.

Delhi AQI: Check Forecast For Next Two Days

The decline in the air purity will continue, according to the Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi. The air quality is likely to be in the ‘very poor’ category until November 28, 2025. The outlook for the subsequent 6 Days shows the AQI in the severe to ‘very poor’ category.
