Delhi AQI: The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi has started to deteriorate with the approaching winters. Delhi’s air quality has sharply dropped ahead of Diwali, with the AQI rising above 200 on Tuesday, October 14. This marked the first significant decline in air quality since June, 2025. In response, GRAP-1 (Graded Response Action Plan) restrictions have been implemented to help curb pollution and protect public health during this period.
As winter approaches, the city is witnessing a significant rise in pollution levels, a common trend due to various factors such as increased vehicle emissions, industrial activity, and seasonal changes like crop burning in nearby regions. The cooler weather and calm winds during this time of year further contribute to the trapping of pollutants closer to the ground, worsening air quality.
