Ahead of Eid, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) minority wing has launched the ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ campaign. This initiative aims to distribute special kits to 3.2 million underprivileged Muslim families across India, ensuring they can celebrate Eid with joy. A team of 32,000 BJP minority wing workers will join forces with 32,000 mosques across the country to distribute these kits.
How The BJP Is Planning
Jamal Siddiqui, National President of the BJP Minority Morcha, emphasized that the ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ initiative goes beyond just Eid. He shared the campaign’s broader vision, stating that it will also extend support during other significant occasions such as Ramzan, Good Friday, Easter, Nauruz, and the New Year, ensuring inclusivity and celebration for all.
Eid Milan And Politics
In addition to distributing kits, the Minority Morcha plans to organise Eid Milan celebrations at the district level to further engage with the community. Yasir Zilani, the National Media In-Charge of the Minority Morcha, highlighted that the ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ campaign is more than just a festive gesture. He explained that it aligns with the BJP’s larger vision of reaching out to the Muslim community, raising awareness about welfare schemes, and strengthening the party’s connect with them. He also noted that this initiative aims to bolster political support for the BJP and its allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
What Will the ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ Kits Contain?
The ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ kits are designed to bring festive cheer to underprivileged families. Each kit will include essential food items like dates, dry fruits, sugar, and vermicelli to help families prepare traditional Eid delicacies. Additionally, the kits will contain clothing—fabric for suits for women and kurta-pyjamas for men—ensuring that families can celebrate in new attire. The estimated cost of each kit ranges from ₹500 to ₹600, making it a thoughtful gesture to support those in need during the festival.
