In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old boy jumped to death from Mayur Vihar Phase-1 metro station in Delhi. The incident occurred on Monday and was reported at 11 am around. The boy jumped off an elevated platform onto the footpath below. He was taken to the hospital by Metro officials where he died during the treatment.
The boy has been identified G Abhishek Rao, a resident of Mayur Vihar-1 near Ganga Market. He was discovered dead shortly after admission into hospital, despite the medical efforts.
What Did The Police Say?
Police stated that a team was rushed to the spot immediately after receiving a distress call at the control room. “He was immediately taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital in a PCR van,” the official added. His family has been informed about the incident. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in a statement also confirmed the incident.
Police have found no suicide note hence the motive of act remains unclear. It’s been informed that the family has been interviewed to gather information or reasons that could led to this step. Police have initiated an inquest proceeding under Section 194 Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
There have been surge in suicide cases reported from the Delhi Metro. Reportedly, a person had died after jumping in front of the tracks at Lok Kalyan Marg Metro Station in September. He could not be saved despite being taken to hospital. In another incident, a retired employee from the National Informatics Center (NIC) had taken his life at the Tagore Garden Metro Station on October.
