Big Update! Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Set To Open Soon — Find Out When The 2.5-Hour Route Will Be Ready

Providing a major update on the expressway, the Minister said that the project will be ready within three months, as 95% construction work is already completed. However, the date of its inauguration has not been officially declared.

Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: The much-awaited Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is progressing at a rapid pace. The 210-Km-long stretch, which promises to cut travel time between the two major cities, was inspected by Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Harsh Malhotra, on Saturday. He was accompanied by NHAI officials during the extensive review. Providing a major update on the expressway, the Minister said that the project will be ready within three months, as 95% construction work is already completed. However, the date of its inauguration has not been officially declared.

Delhi-Dehradun Expressway To Open To Public Soon

Acknowledging the progress made so far, Harsh Malhotra stated that the expressway would be instrumental in “decongesting NCT of Delhi as well as reducing the load on Delhi-Meerut Expressway and other connecting Highways.” Meanwhile, he took cognizance of the various bottlenecks reported by the NHAI officials and directed them to expedite the project. He emphasized that the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway must be open to the public within the stipulated time.

Key Highlights Of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway

The highly anticipated Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 12000 crore. The 32 km stretch of the long-awaited Expressway, extending from Akshardham Temple to Baghpat, has been completed. This new Greenfield Expressway, spanning multiple regions, will pass through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. 

Greenfield Expressway To Connect To Char Dham Highway

With a designated speed of 100 km/h, the expressway aims to drastically cut the travel time from Delhi to Dehradun to 2.5 hours. Tourists and locals must note that the road project would also link to the Char Dham Highway. Due to technical reasons, the inauguration of the expressway was postponed earlier. However, with the remaining construction work now progressing rapidly, it is expected to be inaugurated in August.
