Big Relief For Delhiites! PWD’s 8 Big Projects To Ease Jams; Major Revamp At ITO

The Public Works Department (PWD) has invited consultants to prepare the feasibility report and detailed project report (DPR) of these projects.

To address one of Delhi’s biggest problem, traffic congestion, the Public Works Department (PWD) is undertaking eight major projects. For this, the department has invited consultants to prepare the feasibility report and detailed project report (DPR) of these projects. The department has fixed the cost of consultancy services for this at around Rs 14.6 crores. A thorough study of all technical, environmental and social aspects will be done, before beginning the construction work.

According to reports, the feasibility study will cover flyovers, underpasses, or elevated corridors across eight previously proposed major stretches of the city. It will be decided where to build a flyover or underpass.

There are also preparations to develop the largest intersection at ITO. At present, it is one of the busiest junctions in the national capital. The proposed plan includes a 4km integrated corridor that will connect all major roads, streets and modes of transport in the area.

Another important stretch is a 7 km length of Deshbandhu Gupta Road opposite Paharganj up to Ajmeri Gate. With nearly seven traffic signals, the road faces huge congestion throughout the day. A feasibility study has been proposed for the construction of a flyover or underpass.

The Shadipur Depot stretch is also identified under this project. It includes four major intersections, with a right of way (ROW) of 40 metres at Mathura Road and 30.5m at Goswami Girdhari Marg.
