The Noida International Airport, popularly known as Jewar Airport, is currently under construction. However, commercial flights are slated to begin in April 2025. In addition, there is good news for commuters as the interchange connecting the Jewar International Airport to the Greenfield Expressway is nearing completion. According to reports, trials of light vehicles on this expressway are scheduled for next week, and preparations are underway.
New Interchange Coming Soon
Apart from this, an interchange is under construction in Sector-65 of Ballabgarh to connect the Greenfield Expressway, DND, and the Kundli–Ghaziabad–Palwal Expressway (KGP Expressway). According to reports by Hindustan, pillars have been placed in this area, and where the pillar work is complete, the construction of walls is underway. Fifty percent of the work has been completed.
According to reports, this interchange will be functional in six months and expressway in the next year. With the construction of this expressway, one can reach the Noida airport in just 20 minutes from Ballabgarh, Faridabad. Also, 26 lakh commuters will benefit once the expressway becomes functional.
This interchange is expected to ensure smooth travel experience for commuters, increase accessibility and boost regional connectivity.
Interchange Linking Jewar Airport And Greenfield
In another development, regarding the interchange linking Jewar Airport and the Greenfield Expressway, a Yamuna Development Authority (YDA) official spoke to News 18 about the progress. He stated that following the completion of the Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) process, the final layer of tar has also been laid on the interchange. The official added, ‘Only finishing work is ongoing, and it will be completed by next week.
The interchange, 750 meters long, has eight lanes and will serve as a key link connecting the airport to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. This will enhance connectivity for residents of Delhi-NCR and surrounding regions. The interchange is being developed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
The NHAI is also constructing a 13 km long Greenfield Expressway which is part of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s ambitious ‘Bharatmala’ project. The cost of the project is around INR 2,241.4 crores.
The Greenfield Expressway, which starts from Sector-65 in Ballabgarh, Faridabad, will extend to the Noida International Airport, currently under construction in the Jewar area of Gautam Buddha Nagar.
The expressway is 31 km long, with almost 24 km in Haryana and the rest in Uttar Pradesh.
