New Delhi: The Lieutenant Governor’s office on Tuesday returned files related to services matters to the Delhi government after the Supreme Court ordered that transfers and posting of bureaucrats in the national capital came under the elected government.

The apex court on Thursday ruled that the elected government in Delhi has powers over the work of the service department. Matters related to land, police, and public order still come under the jurisdiction of the Lieutenant Governor.

An official said, “The LG  Secretariat, in compliance with the Supreme Court judgement, has returned files related to services matters, back to Delhi government for further actions. 

The Aam Aadmi Party government had been locked in a tussle several times with LG related to transfers of government officials.
