New Delhi: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, accompanied by his wife Akshata Murty, embarked on a spiritual journey during his visit to India for the G20 Summit. The couple paid a visit to the serene Akshardham Temple in Delhi on Sunday morning to seek blessings, marking a significant moment in their stay.

Ahead of this spiritual excursion, heightened security measures were put in place around the temple premises, with police officials deployed to ensure a safe visit. As the city remains under tight security due to the ongoing G20 Summit, the utmost care was taken to guarantee the safety of the UK Prime Minister and his wife during their visit.

Sunak’s profound words on being a Hindu 

Rishi Sunak, who expressed his Hindu identity proudly during a media interaction on Friday, emphasized his desire to visit a temple while staying in the national capital. He stated, “I’m a proud Hindu, and that’s how I was raised. That’s how I am. Hopefully, I can visit a Mandir while I’m here for the next couple of days.”

Upon their arrival in Delhi on Friday, Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty received a warm welcome from Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey. They were greeted with a heartfelt “Jai Siya Ram” and presented with tokens of Indian hospitality, including Rudraksh beads, a copy of the Bhagavad Geeta, and a Hanuman Chalisa.

During the ongoing G20 Summit, British PM Rishi Sunak had the opportunity to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Their discussions revolved around deepening trade linkages and boosting investment between the two nations, underscoring the significance of the G20 platform for global cooperation.
