Drones will be deployed for larvicide spraying in major drains and to inspect potential mosquito breeding sites on rooftops. This year, a comprehensive plan to combat dengue will include the use of Drones and Artificial Intelligence-based platforms, with targeted fumigation at monument sites, hotels, and markets in Delhi, which will be hosting the G20 Summit in September.

MCD said in a statement, “envisioned a comprehensive and proactive plan to prevent dengue this year with special focus on G20 meeting venues, monuments, hotels, shopping mall, famous markets and other places of gathering of the delegates.”

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) plans to use Larvivorous fish in water bodies for biological control to prevent mosquito larva breeding. Fogging will be conducted following the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme guidelines and adhering to National Green Tribunal orders in an eco-friendly manner, as stated by the MCD.

According to the latest MCD report, 72 malaria cases were recorded between January 1 and July 28.

As for dengue cases, there were 121 reported in July so far, 40 in June, and 23 in May.

In comparison to previous years, Delhi had 169 dengue cases during the same January 1 to July 28 period in 2022, 52 in 2021, 31 in 2020, 40 in 2019, and 56 in 2018.
