New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls to elect 250 councillors have finally begun in the national capital, after much delay and political drama. The polls are open from 8 am until 5:30 pm today i.e. December 4. The results of the polls will be declared on December 7. The overall number of voters in Delhi is 1,45,05,358, according to State Election Commission officials, with 78,93,418 males, 66,10,879 females, and 1,061 transgender people. The Municipal Corporation has 250 wards.

The framework for the high-stakes civic elections has been established, with poll authorities and security personnel preparing for a three-way contest between the AAP, the BJP, and the Congress. In the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s 250 ward elections, more than 1.45 crore electors are eligible to vote, with 1,349 candidates competing.

Meanwhile, the State Election Commission has upgraded polling station amenities from Basic Minimum Facilities (BMF) to Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF).
