Delhi MCD Election 2022: Votes for the Delhi Municipal Corporation Election (MCD Election 2022) will be casted today. This is the first election of Delhi MCD after the integration of North, South and East Delhi Municipal Corporations. The number of wards has decreased due to the implementation of the new delimitation in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Earlier the number of these wards was 272, which has been reduced to 250.
Voting will start from 8 am in all the 250 wards of Delhi MCD, which will continue till 5.30 pm. The counting of votes will take place on December 7 and the results will come on the same day. As many as 1,349 candidates are trying their luck in the electoral fray.
This time more than 1.45 crore voters will exercise their franchise in the MCD elections. According to the State Election Commission, the total number of voters in Delhi is 1 crore, 45 lakh, 5 thousand 358. Out of which 78 lakh 93 thousand 418 are male voters while 66 lakh 10 thousand 879 are female voters. There are 1 thousand 61 transgender voters.
This time a total of 95 thousand 458 voters will take part in the voting for the first time in the MCD elections. While the number of voters above 100 years of age is 229. At the same time, the number of voters between the age of 80 to 100 years is close to 2 lakhs.
The Election Commission has made strict security arrangements regarding voting. There will also be video recording of sensitive polling booths. 13 thousand 665 polling stations have been set up for the elections.
