Delhi MCD Election Voting: Congress leader Ajay Maken on Sunday casted his vote for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) election at a polling booth in Rajouri Garden. He urged people to look at the candidates and vote accordingly. The Congress leader was accompanied by his wife Radhika Maken at the polling booth.
After exercising his franchise, the Congress leader said, “People should see the candidates and vote accordingly. Congress candidates are good and people should vote for the candidate which will be available for them after polls.”

Polling for 250 wards began at 8 am and will end at 5.30 pm. Over 1.45 crore people are eligible to vote in the civic elections and 1,349 candidates are in the fray.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has put full force for Delhi MCD elections. Top leaders including Union ministers, chief ministers of BJP-ruled states and MPs campaigned door-to-door to garner public support.
The BJP held over 200 public meetings and roadshows with its senior leaders and chief ministers of the states ruled by the party. The BJP, which has ruled the civic body in Delhi since 2007, is looking to maintain its winning streak. At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has a majority in the assembly, is trying to make inroads in the first municipal elections in the capital.
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) along with 50 other trade associations of Delhi have declared their support for BJP in the upcoming municipal polls.
This is the first civic election after the fresh delimitation exercise. There were 272 wards in Delhi and three corporations- NDMC, SDMC, and EDMC in Delhi from 2012-2022 that later reunified into an MCD that had formally come into existence on May 22.
According to the State Election Commission, the total number of voters in Delhi is 1,45,05,358, including 78,93,418 males, 66,10,879 females and 1,061 transgender persons. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has 250 wards. The Delhi State Election Commission has set up 13,638 polling stations for the elections.
