New Delhi: The Delhi Education Department issued guidelines for provisional admissions to Manipur violence-affected students. The state said that the admission can be done in the absence of documentation, including ten key directions, as the sudden departure was from Manipur.
The admission process is outlined as follows:
- All students up to Class IX will be granted provisional admission. For Class XI students, admission will be based on their mark sheets issued by the Manipur School Board or CBSE.
- The school heads are responsible for providing provisional admission and assisting students in obtaining residential proof of Delhi.
- Considering the potential difficulties students may face due to uncertain residency and their parents’ job situations, the guidelines emphasize a sympathetic approach.
- Schools are required to offer the services of Educational and Vocational Guidance Counsellors (EVGC) to aid parents and students in adapting to Delhi schools.
- Each district will have a designated Nodal In-charge responsible for handling the admission process of students displaced from Manipur.
To facilitate communication and rectify any discrepancies in student information such as name, address, and age, the Kuki Students’ Organization Delhi & NCR will assign one representative to work with each District Deputy Director of Education (DDE).
Furthermore, recognizing the language barrier that these students may face, the guidelines strongly recommend placing them in English Medium Sections whenever possible.
