Thanks to the Rapid Rail project, commuting from Ghaziabad is about to get more convenient. Soon, it might only take around 12 minutes to travel from Sahibabad to Duhai, covering a 20 km distance that usually takes over 35 minutes by road. The first phase of India’s first Rapid Rail line, known as RAPIDX, is set to become operational next week.
This section will feature five stations: Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot, covering a total of 17 km. The route will be served by 10 trains, with each rapid rail capable of accommodating up to 1,700 passengers. The project consists of 70 km of elevated track (Delhi: 9.22 km; UP: 60.57 km) and 12 km of underground track (Delhi: 4.08 km; UP: 8.08 km).

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will visit Ghaziabad to inspect the RAPIDX station in Sahibabad, where officials from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) will present an overview of RAPIDX’s operations.
Recently, Ghaziabad’s Member of Parliament and Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways, General VK Singh (retired), along with local authorities and senior NCRTC officials, visited the station to assess preparations.
