Delhi: The Delhi government has refused to grant licences to three major liquor distribution companies, including Rica, Indosprit, and Brindco, due to the excise policy and their alleged involvement in it. The government has also issued a written order on the decision.
The effect of this will be that some of the brands will not be available in the market until September. The brands that will now be available in the market, hotels, and bars are:
Brands:-
1. Johnnie Walker
2. Blenders Pride
3. 100 Pipers
4. Royal Stag
5. Glenlivet
6. Chivas Regal
7. Jameson
8. Jack Daniels
9. Jacobs Creek
10. Talisker
11. Absolute Vodka
12. Ballantines
13. Sminoff
According to the sources, the Excise Department of Delhi rejected Perno Rica’s application for renewal of its sales licence last week, which was applied for in September 2022. Before this, the company went to court, but they directed the call to the excise department. This is considered a setback for Pernod Ricard, as India is a big market for the world’s second-largest liquor company.
