New Delhi: Five robbers broke into a businessman’s house in northwest Delhi on Saturday and ran away with Rs 1.3 crore in cash and 2 kg of gold. The police filed an FIR and started investigating.
The robbers’ faces were covered with the mask, and they entered the house by cutting the window grilles at gunpoint and holding the family members hostage in a room.
The victim has a paper trading business, and his father was a contractor who lived in Ashok Vihar.
The thieves were reportedly armed with firearms and knives and forced some of the family members to tell where they kept their cash and valuables. While some of the accused were protecting the hostages, others stole the residence. The bandits threatened the family members with serious consequences if they called the police before fleeing the scene.
The family members were able to release themselves and filed a police report. CCTV footage from on-site cameras showed the suspects leaving the property at 2.45 a.m. The burglars may have conducted reconnaissance in the region days before the crime, according to authorities. Because the burglars interfered with the CCTV cameras in and around the property, an insider may have been involved.
Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects.
