New Delhi: A Delhi court on Thursday sentenced Ravinder Kumar to life imprisonment for kidnapping, sexual assault, and murder of minors. Convict Ravinder Kumar was allegedly involved in the kidnapping and murder of over 30 children between 2008 and 2015.
The accused pleaded guilty to offences committed between 2008 and 2015 in Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. After six years of committing the heinous crime and eight years of trial, a Delhi court convicted him on Saturday.
Ravinder used to work as a labourer in Delhi. He used to get high on drugs, watch pornographic films, and go in search of children to sexually assault and then kill them. In 2008, at the age of 18, he committed his first crime. After this, in the next seven years, i.e., until 2015, he killed more than 30 children.
According to the police, the convict first abducted and raped a girl from Delhi’s Karla area in 2008 and then killed her. He kept on dodging the police, and during this time his courage increased. He killed most of his victims out of fear that they might identify him. Due to his fear of being caught, he did not commit the crime in one place.
Vikramjit Singh, who was the DCP of Outer Delhi district in 2015, said that when Ravinder was giving details of his crimes after his arrest, he explained each of his crimes in detail. He took the police to at least 15 places where he had committed the crime.
