Delhi Cafe Owner Puneet Khurana’s Tragic Death: Family Accuses Wife Of Torture – Echoes Bengaluru Techie Atul Subash’s Case

Delhi: A shocking incident has come to light from Delhi, where a businessman died by suicide in Model Town on Tuesday evening. The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old, Puneet Khurana. It has been alleged that marital discord and mental harassment by his wife and her family led to his death.

Puneet’s family said that he was upset his wife. The couple had married in 2016 and co-owned bakery in the city.

What Did Police Say?

ANI quoted Bhisham Singh, DCP North West Delhi who stated, “The father of the deceased, Puneet Khurana, said that his son was going through marital discord and alleged that his daughter-in-law harassed him, which led to his suicide.”

“We have seized the deceased man’s mobile phone, and the family’s claims are being verified. An inquiry is underway with both families participating in the investigation. Manika’s family has made counter-allegations, and a divorce case is also ongoing,” he added.

What Did Puneet’s Family Say?

Puneets’s sister told that his wife, along with her sister and parents, was mentally torturing and harassing him. Puneet had also recorded a video in which he mentioned the details of the harassment he had faced.

“She, her sister, and her parents mentally tortured and harassed him. There is a video recording of around 59 minutes, in which Puneet has mentioned details of harassment he faced. The woman had even hacked Puneet’s social media account,” the sister said.

Meanwhile, Puneet’s mother said, “She (Puneet’s wife) used to keep torturing him…I want justice for him.” She added that Puneet never spoke about the harassment so that his parents wouldn’t be stressed.

Puneet had spoken to his wife on the night of December 30, a recording of which is now with the cops. The couple were speaking of a divorce and a share in the property.

Puneet’s Suicide Mirrors Atul Subhash’s Case

Puneet’s suicide has caught attention as it resembles Bengaluru-based techie Atul Subhash’s suicide case.  Atul Subhash died by suicide on December 9 after alleging harassment from his wife and her family. Subhash wrote “Justice is due” on every page of a 24-page note. He also alleged in his suicide note that his wife had filed nine cases against him under various sections, including murder, sexual misconduct, harassment for money, domestic violence, and dowry.
