New Delhi: Delhi Airport lunch self-baggage drop (SBD) for domestic passengers at Tarminal-3 of Indra Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. The facility will reduce passengers’ waiting time by 15-20 minutes and result in a quick and effortless check-in process at Check-in Row-P of Terminal 3.
Who can use the SBD facility?
Currently, travellers flying on Indigo will be able to use the service, as well as passengers on five other airlines, including Air India, Vistara, Air France, and KLM. In the near future, Royal Dutch Airlines and British Airways are expected to allow their passengers to use self-baggage drop. Furthermore, following successful testing, the self-baggage drop will be made available to foreign passengers.
The process to use the facility
- To begin, passengers must generate their boarding tickets and baggage tags at the Self Check-In kiosk.
2. The baggage tag can then be attached to their luggage.
3. They can proceed to the SBD facility after tagging their check-in baggage, where they can scan their boarding card, declare their luggage is clear of prohibited/dangerous items, and load their luggage onto the allocated belt.
4. Following completion of these stages, the baggage will be automatically sent to the sorting facility and then onto the aeroplane. Flyers do not need to register separately to use this service.
With the potential to serve up to three passengers per minute, the SBD facility can dramatically minimise the amount of time travellers spend at check-in counters. To offer a pleasant travel experience for travellers, Delhi Airport has installed 14 self-baggage drop machines, including 12 completely automated and two hybrid devices.
