New Delhi: Property of drug peddlers will now be attached in Punjab. This decision has been taken recently in a meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Punjab Police officers.

In the meeting, the CM also said that panchayats which have passed resolutions to make villages drug-free should be given preference in giving grants under the Rural Development Fund. Apart from this, work should also be done regarding the security of the panchayats which have passed the resolutions of drug de-addiction.

Police should instill confidence in people

Further in the meeting, the CM said that the police will have to create a trust among the people. Efforts should be made to provide justice to the people on the basis of initiative. He said that ranging from the SHO of the police station to the SSP, everyone will be equally responsible to counter drug smuggling.

If a case of sale of drugs comes to the fore in the area of a police officer, then that officer will be responsible for negligence. Take strict action against the officers and employees involved in drug smuggling. Apart from this, cases of extortion and extortion should be taken seriously.

Over 16,000 drug smugglers caught

On the instructions of the Punjab CM, a campaign against drugs is being run in Punjab. People involved in smuggling are being raided. Explain that strict steps are being taken to prevent smuggling from drones and ports and smuggling in the border area.

According to the police, last year 16798 drug smugglers or suppliers were caught. Of these, 216 were very vicious smugglers. A total of 12,171 FIRs were registered in this crackdown. In this action, 690 kg opium, 729.5 kg heroin, 1396 kg ganja, 518 quintal husk were recovered. Apart from this, drug pills worth 60.13 lakh and Rs 11.59 crore were recovered.
