Male Passenger ‘Inappropriately’ Touches Woman On Board Delhi-Chennai Flight, Arrested

After landing at the airport at 4:30 PM, the victim filed a police complaint immediately, with the help of the airline staff.

CHENNAI: A 43-year-old man was reportedly arrested for inappropriately touching a woman passenger on a Delhi- Chennai IndiGo flight on Wednesday. The woman alleged that the man seated behind her, touched her during the flight while she was sleeping.

The suspect, Rajesh Sharma, is a sales executive from Rajasthan but has been residing in Chennai for the last few years.

An officer at the All Women’s Police Station at the airport said, “The woman has registered a complaint that she was in a window seat and while she was asleep, the accused who was sitting behind her – also in the window seat – touched her inappropriately,” Hindustan Times reports.

After landing at the airport at 4:30 PM, the victim filed a police complaint immediately, with the help of the airline staff. Following the complaint, authorities registered a case under Section 75 (sexual harassment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and arrested the accused.

However, the airline has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
