The season finale of Indian Racing League (IRL) 2024 from November 16-17 comes to an epic close, with many memories made, champions crowned, and countless stories written. Cars were lined up and the ‘Big Boys’ were out to play. It was Raoul Hyman and Gabriela Jilkova who not only delivered a 1-2 finish for Goa Aces but also helped the team clinch the Indian Racing League Championship as the curtains came down on the 2024 edition at Kari Motor Speedway Racetrack at in Chettipalayam, Tamil Nadu.
Goa Aces led Shrachi Rarh Royal Bengal Tigers by just two points ahead of the final race. However after a crash, The latter handed over the title within seconds after the race commenced from a rolling start without any struggle for the Aces. Ruhaan Alva, sandwiched between Jilkova and pole-sitter Hyman in P2, rammed into Akash Gowda of Speed Demons Delhi just as they approached the finish line.
Thereafter, Jilkova and Hyman and cruised along towards the checkered grid with the latter eventually winning by 28 seconds. After the victory Hyman said,
“We are very happy for the 1-2 finish. We are grateful to the team for giving us the cars that won the races for us. It is their hard work that enabled us to win the championship”
Settled for the second position, Malaysian driver Alister Yoong, Shrachi Rarh Royal Bengal Tigers finished with the journey with disappointment. Though the IRL 2024 ended for the best for Goa Aces but what should be kept in mind is that an electrifying season ends on a high and it would probably cater more viewership in the future.
