Chennai: Three people, including two juveniles, were apprehended for allegedly raping a class XI girl while she was returning from tuition near Thalambur in Chennai on Friday. One of the accused has been identified as 23-year-old Sundar who is currently in judicial custody and the other two minors have been sent to a Correctional facility in Chengalpet.
According to the police, the survivor usually returned home around 7.30 pm after attending her tuition classes, but she did come home on time on Friday.
As per the reports, the victim’s parents started searching for her and even contacted the tuition center. They were told that she had left around 7:15 PM. The girl, however, returned home around 9 pm with torn clothes and visible injuries. They immediately took her to a private hospital and informed the police.
According to the investigating officer, the tragic incident took place within a half-kilometer of the victim’s house. “She returned home after regaining consciousness,” the police said.
With the help of the details shared by the girl, the police tracked down the suspects. The case was later handed over to the all-women police station in Chitlapakkam. A Pocso case was registered in the matter.
