Chennai Power Cut: The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TANGEDCO) has said that there will be a scheduled power cut in different areas in Chennai today, May 20, 2025. The electricity shutdown is planned in view of safety checks and maintenance work by the Electricity Board. The cuts, which are part of regular repair work, will be effective from 9 am to 5 pm. Power will be restored either after 8 hours or before that, depending on the completion of the maintenance work.
Officials have released the list of affected areas and timings in advance to help people prepare. Meanwhile, TANGEDCO has urged people to plan their day to avoid inconvenience. During such planned outages conducted by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, electrical staff are directed to handle multiple maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, clearing tree branches from power lines, etc.
