Chennai: In a shocking breakthrough, an MSc chemistry student, four robotics engineering graduates, and two other youngsters were arrested for preparing methamphetamine in one of their homes in Kodungaiyur. The incident, apparently inspired by the popular TV series Breaking Bad, came to light when the police showed up at the house on Wednesday. According to reports, the parents told the police that they thought the students were engaged in their studies.
The newly formed Anti-Drug Intelligence Unit (ADIU) in Chennai carried out the raid on the meth lab based on special intelligence. During the raid, the authorities seized 250 g of meth, chemicals, and a set of laboratory equipment. The accused were later sent to judicial custody.

As per TOI reports, the arrested individuals have been identified as:

- Naveen, 22 (Poonamallee)
- Pravin Pranav, 21 (Kodungaiyur)
- Kishore, 21 (Nandiyambakkam)
- Gnanapandian, 22 (Nandiyambakkam) MSc student In Chemistry
- Arunkumar, 22 (Kodungaiyur)
- Dhanush, 23 (Manali)
Assistant Commissioner of Police, AIDU) K Manoj’s team raided the house in Kodungaiyur. A senior police official said that the drug racket might have a link with cities like Bengaluru. All the seven accused have been remanded in judicial custody and the interrogation process is ongoing.
