Administrative staff at approximately 15 schools across various parts of Bengaluru were rattled as they received threatening emails warning them of explosives planted within their premises, allegedly capable of detonating at any moment.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda confirmed that multiple anti-sabotage teams immediately conducted thorough scans of the school compounds, yet no suspicious items were discovered.

Dayananda assured that as of now it appears to be a false alarm and urged parents not to panic. He also stated that search operations are being conducted as of now which will conclude shortly. He further noted that it wasn’t the first time this has happened, similar emails targeting multiple schools in the city were reported last year as well.

Anxiety rippled through many parents, teachers, and guardians. Some institutions swiftly relocated students to nearby playgrounds or alternative safe zones, while others advised parents/guardians to retrieve their children from school premises.

Speaking of a previous similar incident, on April 8, 2022, a total of 16 schools in Bengaluru found themselves targeted by hoax bomb threat emails, received between 11 am and 2.30 pm. The alarming email explicitly stated the presence of a highly potent explosive within the school premises, emphasizing the severity of the situation and urging immediate action by contacting the police and sappers to avert a potential catastrophe. The police, considering it a serious matter, registered a case under cyber-terrorism charges to investigate the matter thoroughly. Subsequent investigations uncovered that a minor from Tamil Nadu was responsible for orchestrating these threatening messages.
