Chandigarh: Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Bram Shankar Zimpa have informed that another achievement has been added to the name of the government headed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Punjab has been 100 per cent certified by the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti after achieving the target of water supply through taps to all households in all villages of Punjab.
Jimpa said that the Jal Jeevan Mission is a country-wide program launched by the Central Government, under which piped water supply is to be provided to every house in the group stages by 2024 and it is a matter of great pride for Punjab that Punjab By achieving this milestone in March 2023, it has achieved the status of being the sixth state of the country.
On this occasion, JIMPA specially thanked the able leadership and support given by Gajender Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of Jal Shakti in implementing the Jal Jeevan Mission.
Jimpa told that continuous efforts are being made to raise the level of water supply in the villages. Keeping in view the availability and quality of water through various schemes, schemes are being run so that common people can get rid of diseases caused by water.

He further informed that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is constantly making efforts to provide canal water to the areas where the groundwater has gone down or has become contaminated. Many new schemes are being made for this purpose.
It is noteworthy that under the Government of India’s Jal Jeevan Mission scheme, for any village to be a certified village, the proposal of the Gram Sabha by holding a session of the Gram Sabha, the videography of the proceedings of the meeting of the Gram Sabha as well as given by the officer of the department. A copy of the certificate has to be uploaded to the portal of the Government of India. After the certification of all the 11,900 villages of Punjab on 6th April 2023, Punjab has become a ‘Har Ghar Jal Certified’ state.
