Punjab: 1,47,423 cases dispose in National Lok Adalat

Chandigarh: With the motive of settling the maximum disputes of the litigants in amicable way, under the able guidance of Hon’ble Mr. Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao, Judge,Punjab & Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, the State Authority has organized National Lok Adalat on 13.05.2023 throughout the State of Punjab.

In this National Lok Adalat, total 1,47,423 cases have been disposed of by way of amicable settlement and awards amounting to Rs. 612 crores were passed.
Whereas, in the previous Lok Adalat dated 11.02.2023 total 1,34,743 cases were settled. Comparing with the previous Lok Adalat total 12,680 more cases have been settled in this Lok Adalat.

This encouraging figure has witnessed the growing interest of the litigants and general public towards amicable settlement of the disputes.
On this occasion Ms. Smriti Dhir, Additional District and Sessions Judge and Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority has apprised that the major benefit of the Lok Adalat mechanism is that it helps in saving time and money of the litigants.

The Additional Member Secretary further apprised that Punjab State Legal Services Authority is committed to put all possible efforts for settling maximum disputes of litigants through the Lok Adalats to be organized in future as per the directions of National Legal Services Authority.
