Chandigarh: In an unexpected turn of events, Chandigarh Police reportedly suspended a senior cop after a reel featuring a dance performance at Gurdwara Chowk (Sector 20) was uploaded on his social media handle. According to reports, the incident caused disruptions in the traffic movement and endangered public safety. The surprising event occurred around 4.30 pm on the 22nd of March.
Reel Goes Viral On Social Media
The act came to light after a dance reel video went viral across social media platforms, sparking a debate. The video that showcased senior police constable Ajay Kundu’s wife was filmed by her sister-in-law at the Sector 20/30/32/33 rotary. Officials stated that an FIR was filed following the incident under different sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) – Sections 125, 292, and 3(5).
Special Informant Approaches Police
Meanwhile, reports revealed that a special informant reached out to the police while they were positioned near a petrol pump in Sector 33. He told them that the two women shooting the video ignored traffic, endangering their and other people’s lives. Upon receiving the information, police acted promptly and conducted an investigation. A team led by ASI Baljit Singh reviewed the CCTV footage obtained from the surveillance cameras. It was installed in Sector 20’s Gurdwara Chowk and the Police Station located in Sector 17.
What The CCTV Footage Revealed?
The clip allegedly confirmed the allegations, showing a woman dressed in a yellow suit and yellow-blue dupatta. She was with another woman who was spotted in light cream-coloured Kurta. The former was dancing on the street while the latter was shooting her act. Their act led to an FIR lodged at the Police station as well as the suspension of a senior constable.
