Haldwani: The body of a 17-year-old minor girl who went missing on August 3 from the Lalkuan Kotwali area was discovered 24 days later in the forest of Bara near Kichha. According to reports, the minor was murdered by slitting her throat. In this case, villagers staged a sit-in protest at the Halduchaud police station, accusing officers of negligence.
Anjali alias Priya, the 17-year-old daughter of Khim Ram, a resident of Motahaldu’s Khadakpur village, went missing on August 3. On August 4, his family filed a missing person’s report in Kotwali Lalkuan. The police had been looking for her ever since.
On Saturday morning, after the police took a young man into custody and interrogated him thoroughly, the teenager’s body was discovered in the forest near Kichha-Bara. In this case, the police have also detained two Kichha youths.
Following the recovery of the girl’s body, dozens of people led by village head Shankar Joshi, block chief representative Bhuvan Prasad, Kshetra Panchayat member Rinku Pathak, and former head Bhaskar caused a commotion by reaching the Halduchaud outpost. The police in the rural outposts were accused of negligence.
