New Delhi: Locals in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur resorted to a strange idea to pacufy Lord Indra so it can rain in the area. They fed ‘Gulab-Jamun’ an Indian sweet dish to donkeys, hoping that it would rain.
There is a saying in Hindi that donkeys eat Gulab Jamun that was proved today after the locals put their faith in the animal to impress the god. As per the tradition, locals took the donkeys to crematorium on Thursday night where they sowed with the help of donkeys and also performed a few rituals there.
People believed that the god was pleased and after that, it rained in Mandsaur district in the afternoon on Friday.
Fed Gulab Jamun again after it finally rained
Locals fed 1.25 kg gulab jamuns to donkeys afterwards out of happiness. Not just that but as per media reports, there were a candidate for Councillor was also took a round in the city while sitting on a donkey.
Locals said the farmers in Mandsaur was stressed as there was no rain in the city that was affecting the crops. After whcih, they came up with the idea to use donkeys in their rituals so that it could rain.
Within 3 days of performing the rituals, claimed a local, it rained in the city saving the crops of the farmers who were earlier tensed over the lack of water to help their harvest keep healthy.
