New Delhi: Chhattisgarh Cheif Minister Bhupesh Baghel Sunday hit back at his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma who said that Congress leader Sonia Gandhi had been fighting alone for decades to make Rahul Gandhi stand.

The Chhattisgarh CM slammed the former Conrgess leader Himanta Biswa Sarma calling the latter “spineless”. He accused the Assam CM of defecting to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) mere after an enquiry conducted against him.

CM Baghel said, Himanta Biswa Sarma changed his party. No one is greedy as much as he is. Congress party has given him the identity… What is his morality to accuse Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

Earlier in the day, BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma was speaking to press in Mangaluru of poll-bound Karnataka where he made the statement.

He said, “Rahul Gandhi is giving guarantee to the people of Karnataka, but who will take the guarantee of Rahul Gandhi… Sonia Gandhi has been fighting alone for the last 20 years to make Rahul Gandhi stand, now this person (Rahul Gandhi) comes and gives guarantee to the people of Karnataka?”
