Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a young woman was molested and assaulted in broad daylight by a group of men in Anekal, Bengaluru. The incident took place on Tuesday evening when she had gone out to buy groceries. The brutal attack was caught on CCTV and a video of it has also been widely shared on social media. The incident has caused an uproar online, with netizens pointing out at lawlessness in the city. The woman filed a police complaint, but in shocking turn of events, the accused also registered a counter-complaint. Reportedly, the group of men also thrashed the locals who had come to support the woman.
According to the woman, she had stepped out of the house to buy groceries when she spotted a group of 4-5 drunk men fighting on the road. As she walked past them, they passed lewd comments, tried to touch her and surrounded her. When she resisted, the men started hitting her. The woman told that she also hit one of them in her defence.
She added when others came to help her, the group assaulted them too. “They live behind my house. I don’t know them, I’ve only lived here for a week,” the woman said.
The woman luckily managed to escape the scene with the help of residents. But the group returned and created a ruckus and attacked those who had helped the lady.
The woman also alleged that the accused followed her to the gate of her house and even threatened her. She added that despite her complaint, no arrests were made. One of the boys who hit her is in the hospital now. The boy had got inured hitting the gate and filed the case on her. The Bannerghatta Police is investigating the case.
