Namma Metro Latest News Update: In a first, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has filed a case against a man who was caught eating ‘gobi Manchurian inside a Namma Metro train. This marks the first instance where BMRCL has imposed a penalty of Rs 500 on a passenger for violating the no-food policy within the metro system.
Prior to this, BMRCL had refrained from booking and penalizing passengers for consuming food while on a train journey. The decision came after a video of the incident gained widespread attention on social media. Speaking to reporters, a Namma Metro official said that the incident occurred a few days ago involving a regular passenger who commutes between Jayanagar and Sampige Road.
In the video that circulated on social media, the man’s friends could be heard cautioning him against eating inside the Metro, but he ignored their advice and continued to do so, leading to a violation of the rules. Consequently, a case was registered against him at Jayanagar police station, and a fine was imposed, with the passenger also providing an undertaking at the station, pledging not to repeat such behaviour.
