The name of the 42-year-old victim, a homemaker from Bellave, emerged after she was reported missing by her husband. Officers initially rushed to Chimpuganahalli in Koratagere, located about 110 km from Bengaluru, after being alerted about a human arm in a dog’s mouth. What they discovered was deeply disturbing – dismembered human remains were found scattered across a 5-km radius at 19 different spots. The victim’s head, however, was missing. Forensic experts later confirmed the remains were those of a woman.

Her carpenter husband, Basavaraj, identified them as his wife after her missing severed head was found two days later in Koratagere. According to reports, she was last seen on August 3, leaving her daughter’s home in Hanumantapura. The accused dentist, Dr. Ramachandraiah, allegedly murdered her after he suspected her of interfering in his marriage and pressuring his daughter.

Tumakuru police found Devi’s decomposed and chopped body parts stuffed in multiple plastic bags across 19 different spots in Koratagere. SP Ashok K V had formed a team to track down the accused and investigate the case. Authorities soon took Ramachandrappa and his associates, Satish K N and Kiran K S, into custody. During interrogation, the main accused confessed to killing Devi after Satish revealed details of the crime, SP Ashok said.

According to reports, Ramachandrappa feared that his mother-in-law would destroy his family, so he began planning her murder six months earlier. He promised Satish and Kiran Rs 4 lakh each, giving them Rs 50,000 in advance.

On August 3, as Lakshmidevamma left her daughter’s home, Ramachandrappa offered her a ride in a white SUV. Once she was seated, Satish and Kiran strangled her to death and drove to farmland in Kolala. They later cut her body at the joints, dismembered the limbs, severed the head, and scattered the remains across 19 different locations.
