Karnataka: The Congress on Thursday announced veteran party leader Siddaramaiah as the next chief minister, and DK Shivkumar has been satisfied by being given the post of Deputy Chief Minister. After a long deadlock, the swearing-in ceremony is going to be held in Bengaluru on the afternoon of May 20.
Apart from the new Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, 18 ministers are also likely to take oath at the ceremony, including senior party leader G. Parameshwara and MB Patil.
According to party sources, more than 20 MLAs from both the camps of Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar will be made ministers in the state cabinet.
According to a media report, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, Tamil Nadu CM SK Stalin, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti, CPI General Secretary D Raja, CPI (Marxist) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, former Maharashtra CM Udhav Thackeray, and actor Kamal Haasan have been invited.
