Bengluru : Facing political heat for his remarks against the Brahmin community, former Karnataka chief minister and senior JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy said he respects the Brahmins and he is not against, if any leader from the community would become CM. Kumaraswamy said that his actual remark was not meant to disrespect the brahmin community. He clarified that he originally said the RSS is planning to make a leader of Marathi Peshwa DNA as Karnataka CM,”.
My remark has been twisted
He accused political manipulation of his remark. Days before Kumaraswammy had given a statement that the RSS is planning to make Union Minister Pralhad Joshi next Karnataka CM and would appoint eight deputy CMs if the BJP returns to power. Former CM and JDS leader had also stated that Pralhad Joshi is not a South Karnataka Brahmins, but he is a Maratha Peshwas, the community who were responsible for damaging Sringeri Mutt.
I did not disrespect Brahmin
Kumaraswammy said that he respects the Brahmin community and he has not insulted the community. He further added that when he was CM Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board was established.
Brahmin development board condemn his remark
Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board chairman HS Sachidananda Murthy said that HD Kumaraswamy should not give statements about the Brahmins community in such a manner.
He demands apology from the former CM, Murthy said nowadays it has become a fashion to criticise the Brahmins, few people do this to establish himself as secular.
